JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton Conservation District is leading a comprehensive watershed planning effort for Fish Creek, with the goal of developing a Watershed Management Plan. Come to the Public Stakeholder meeting on Wednesday, June 7, to learn about the development of the Plan and provide your thoughts and comments!

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) listed Fish Creek as an impaired waterbody in 2020 due to E. coli bacteria concentrations exceeding the recreation use standard. The purpose of this Plan is to restore water and habitat quality in the Fish Creek Watershed to meet regulatory requirements and to achieve stakeholder goals.

Through gathering stakeholder and public input, Teton Conservation District hopes to prioritize watershed management practices and policies to improve and protect Fish Creek. Alder Environmental LLC is facilitating the Watershed Management Plan development process.

A Watershed Plan is a comprehensive document that outlines strategies to restore and protect the health of a watershed, which can lead to grant funding and other resources for restoration efforts. Stakeholder input will be gathered to be included in the watershed management plan, as well as thoughts on the prioritization of proposed future watershed improvements and research study activities. We want to hear from you!

Stakeholder input and feedback are very valuable to the Watershed Management Plan development process. There are several ways to be involved and provide input:

  • Attend the Public Stakeholder Meeting – Wednesday, June 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse Community Center (5655 Main St., Wilson, Wyoming), or online via Zoom.
  • Email or mail written comment to Dan Leaman at Alder Environmental at dan@alderenv.com or P.O. Box 6519, Jackson, Wyoming, 83002.
  • Following the Stakeholder Meeting, an online public input survey will be available, which Teton Conservation District encourages everyone to complete to formally provide input for the Watershed Management Plan. Visit JH Clean Water Coalition to complete this survey following the meeting on June 7.
