JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Health Department (TCHD) announced that beginning April 27, the Teton County COVID-19 vaccine clinic will begin administering the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine to anyone six months of age and older, by appointment only.
The bivalent COVID-19 vaccine protects against both the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5.
“In an effort to simplify the COVID-19 vaccines the monovalent (original) mRNA COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be available or recommended for use.”

An additional bivalent COVID-19 vaccine was approved on April 19 by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for people 65 years old and up and children five years and older who are immunocompromised.
According to TCHD, individuals 65 and older need to wait at least four months from their last COVID-19 vaccine to be eligible to receive an additional dose. Those who are immunocompromised and five years of age or older are eligible for an additional dose two months after their last COVID-19 vaccine.
For more information on these changes and to book an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine visit TCHD’s website. If you need assistance booking an appointment, call the COVID-19 Hotline at (307) 732-8628.
