Before the 'talk' with your daughter, parents need this talk Parent Upbringing Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – It’s dreaded by many, and too often avoided altogether. That talk with your daughter about…sex.

How to even begin, right? Maybe it starts with a conversation about conversations.

Join Carrie Kirkpatrick as she facilitates a discussion on practical ways parents can help foster healthy perspectives about sexuality through everyday conversations with their daughters ages 3-12.

Kirkpatrick will draw from the book by acclaimed parenting educator Debra Haffner called, From Diapers to Dating: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Sexually Healthy Children.

This informative program could help answer questions like: “How do I talk confidently to my daughter about sexual development, health, safety, and our family’s values concerning these issues?

“Teaching girls about sexuality can be one of the many joys of parenting,” according to Kirkpatrick. Library staff will also provide a handy list of selected titles from their parenting and digital collections.

Dads, don’t you be shy about attending, either. It’s vital your daughter hear from you as well.
