JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Coroner Brent Blue announced Thursday evening that he had classified the death of Peter Wuerslin, the 71-year-old ski instructor who was critically injured in a skiing collision at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on April 14, as a homicide.

“Cause of death was intracranial hemorrhage,” Blue said via email.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). Earlier this week, the agency announced that it was seeking information from any potential witnesses of the collision.

Blue noted that his ruling was independent of investigations being conducted by other entities.

“That does not mean the TCSO or County Attorney will come to the same conclusion,” Blue wrote in his email.

Sheriff Matt Carr told Buckrail that TCSO’s investigation is still being conducted. Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Bret Bommer at 307-733-4052.

Wuerslin never regained consciousness after the ski crash, a collision with a 34-year-old skier who was uphill of Wuerslin. The identity of the other skier has not yet been released. After being placed on life support, Wuerslin died on Wednesday, April 17, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

This is a developing story. Buckrail will provide updates as they become available.
