JACKSON, Wyo. – Tip Top Search and Rescue assisted with a delicate extraction in the Hoback River last week. Everyone is safe and the operation went smoothly. The Sublette County search and rescue was paged out on Wednesday, June 10, to provide assistance with a tricky water rescue in the Hoback Canyon. A truck was submerged in the Hoback River near milemarker 145 on highway 191. The driver had made it to shore safely on his own, but due to depth and speed of the river, Tip Top's swiftwater team responded to assist Wyoming Highway Patrol and Sublette County Unified Fire. The Tip Top swiftwater team was able to secure lines to the submerged vehicle, allowing it to be winched out of the river. Tip Top members Kochever, Searles, and Koch used the team’s Zodiak boat to access the back receiving hitch and attach the tow cable. Tip Top members Kipp, Lankford, Rinker, and Tanner provided downstream safety until all units were safely out of the water. Great job, crew. That’s why they train. Tip Top said the incident is a good reminder about spring time river flows which are fast-moving and can be dangerous upon entry.
