JACKSON, Wyo. — The winter weather rollercoaster continues with more snow in the forecast for the end of the week.
The National Weather Service’s Riverton office (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges along with other western Wyoming ranges, in effect from 11 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, until 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.
“Heavy snow expected,” the warning reads. “Total snow accumulations between 12 and 20 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph on Friday. … Travel could be very difficult, especially across Teton and Togwotee Passes. Strong winds will create hazardous conditions with blowing and drifting snow.”
NWS recommends that drivers keep an extra flashlight, food and water in personal vehicles in case of an emergency when traveling in snow and ice.
