JACKSON, Wyo. — START Bus released round two of its Transit Development Plan (TDP) survey to help keep up with the transportation needs of the community over the next ten years.

The winter survey, which ran from March through April, was the first step in a 12-month study process to provide an in-depth analysis of ridership, including the places in the community that people ride to and from. Public input will be used to help determine bus routes, times and frequency.

“Significant changes to our area in recent years mean it’s time to update the TDP,” START said in an announcement. “The new TDP will evaluate the current system, present plans to build on its success and improve its services.”

According to START, the previous plan was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and START services from Jackson to Teton Village, Star Valley and Teton Valley have changed over time. START wrote on its website that between 2023 and 2024, ridership levels increased on all routes except START On Demand and Teton Valley commuter buses. In 2024, town shuttle ridership increased the most with 63,396 more riders (about an 18% increase), and Teton Village had an increase of 47,685 more riders (about an 14% increase).

“Provide your input on ways to enhance the future of START’s transit services,” START wrote. “We appreciate any and all input and perspective to better understand the community’s needs.”

The survey runs through July 31. Provide contact information at the end of the survey to be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card from Smith’s.
