JACKSON, Wyo. — St. John’s Health announced Thursday that it had received $4.2 million from the St. John’s Health Foundation (SJHF), which funded the purchase and installation of a new CT scanner, upgrades to surgery facilities and the construction of workforce rental housing units.
According to the announcement, the large sum was the result of “community generosity through Annual Giving” to SJHF.
“The Foundation is thrilled to coordinate this transfer of funds that will have direct and positive impacts on our community health and wellbeing,” SJHF President Anna Olson said in the announcement. “To be able to use $4.2 million of funds raised in 2023 in this meaningful and immediate way to support our hospital.” Olson shared that SJHF had provided a further $2 million for patient and staff support.
The new CT scanner will be St. John’s second one, increasing patient access to its imaging capabilities. The CT scanner is one of the hospital’s most frequently used tools, used to check for internal bleeding, internal injuries and tumors, per the announcement. Upgrades to the surgical suites are currently in progress, focused on the surgical imaging system, surgical instrumentation, surgical booms and the operating room lighting system.
Fifteen new rental units will open this fall near St. John’s as part of its King & Karns project, available for employees to rent. Studio and two-bedroom units will be available, including parking and storage options.
CEO Jeff Sollis expressed his gratitude to SJHF in the announcement, noting that the donation “helps us maintain our independence during a time when hospital consolidation is driving community healthcare from rural areas such as Teton County.”
