JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Grizzly bears in and around Jackson Hole continue to be active. Several sightings over the weekend were reported by hunters and outdoor recreators.
It’s a good reminder to maintain bear awareness and good wildlife practices. Always carry bear spray when in the backcountry and know how to use it. Be especially vigilant at this time of year. Bears are covering a lot of ground in search of multiple food sources as they look to pack on calories before hibernation.
Most bears will be denning by the end of the month. In milder seasons, some griz remain active as late as mid-December.
Greg Balvin put together this amazing video of Grizzly 399 and her two cubs with very recent footage shot in glorious 4k. The cubs are getting very large. This will be their last winter with momma. She’ll cut them loose next spring.
