JACKSON, Wyo. — A new piece of public art that doubles as a solar power generator will be unveiled this Friday.

Jackson’s Land Art Generator Solar Mural will be presented to the public on Friday, July 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Town of Jackson Pump House (625 West Broadway). Artist Peggy Flavin will be on hand to discuss the mural, which will generate solar energy for the town’s water system.

Attendees can look forward to live music, free food and Roadhouse beer.

This mural is the result of a collaboration between local nonprofit Vista 360° and the Land Art Generator initiative. Land Art Generator has installed two solar murals previously, both located in San Antonio, TX.

“Solar power is the conversion of energy from sunlight into electricity,” Vista 360°’s website says. “In this same way, having a unique solar ‘statement’ in our community is a way of converting climate action education into awareness and engagement. We are putting up a symbol for sustainability in Jackson.”
