JACKSON, Wyo. — Snow King Mountain Resort announced this morning, May 25, that chairs from the Summit Lift will be available for purchase.
The Summit Lift was installed in 1981 and was the only chair to take skiers and snowboarders to the top of Snow King Mountain. The lift spun for the last time on March 28. It will be replaced with a gondola this summer.
According to Snow King, 100 chairs will go on sale online starting this Friday, May 28 at 10 a.m. Chairs are priced at $1500 each.
The remainder of the chairs will be kept for donation to a public bench collaboration project so the history of the King can live on in Jackson, says Snow King.
Snow King attempted to sell the lift in its entirety to another ski area but was unsuccessful.
The mountain received approval from the National Forest on May 31 to begin work outlined in their improvement plan. Projects are currently underway. According to Teton County/Jackson Parks and Rec, the ballfield at Snow King will remain open for summer reservations from June 1 through July 31.
Chairs will be available for pickup June 1 through June 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Snow King Mountain staff will be available to help load chairs.
