JACKSON, Wyo. — The annual New Year’s Eve torchlight parade at Snow King Mountain Resort, which is usually open to the public, will be limited to season passholders only due to snow conditions.
“We have decided for safety reasons to limit the number of participants in the torchlight parade this year,” General Manage of Snow King Mountain Resort Ryan Stanley told Buckrail.
Expert skiers and season passholders are encouraged to participate in the parade. Those interested in holding a torch must be at least 13 years old and all participants under 18 must have an adult present.
Skiers should meet at the lodge room at 5:30 p.m. to receive tickets and sign waivers, and a safety briefing for participants will begin at 6 p.m. No alcohol is allowed for skiers at the parade nor are personal fireworks. It is recommended to wear warm, older clothing as the torches can drip and cause damage to skis or clothing.
The parade will begin around 7 p.m. and will be followed by fireworks at 7:30 p.m. Snow King Mountain Resort advises that the best place to view the fireworks will be adjacent to the base of the gondola.
Waivers can be signed in advance of the evening here.
