JACKSON, Wyo. — Wildlife is abundant in the Jackson Hole valley all year long and Buckrail Photographer Nick Sulzer has been out capturing the action this winter.

Winter wildlife restrictions remain in place on the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) until May 1. According to BTNF, when individuals access closed winter ranges, they cause animals using the area to become stressed or flee to new locations. This retreat requires animals, especially ungulates like deer, elk and moose, to use energy they cannot spare.

Regardless of the season, giving wildlife space is crucial to their survival. Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) requires visitors to always stay at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves and at least 25 yards away from bison, elk, moose and all other wildlife.
