JACKSON HOLE, WYO – An impressive image making the rounds on social media is David Rule’s aerial shot of the confluence of Hoback River and Granite Creek.
For much of the year and especially now during spring runoff, the Hoback (at top) runs muddy chocolate. By contrast, Granite Creek’s waters appear steely blue. Even hundreds of yards after the waterways join, each retains its color as if the river and creek aren’t sure they want to mix, and make an agreement to retain their identities for a while.
