TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. — On Monday, Dec. 23, the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) shared photos of staff and Smokey Bear hitting the slopes for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Sublette chairlift.

“It was a fabulous day on the slopes and a good time was had by all!” BTNF wrote on its Facebook. Smokey Bear celebrated his 80th birthday this year.

The new Sublette chairlift opened for the first time on Dec. 18. Learn more about the lift here.

Both skiers and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are emphasizing safer skiing this winter after death of a ski instructor.

“Safety is the top priority for the 2025 winter season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort,” JHMR Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Way previously told Buckrail.
