JACKSON, Wyo. — Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Wintery weather is finally making a strong showing in the valley. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer came across this bull moose traipsing through the freshly fallen snow that made a cameo in late October.

Luckily, moose are well-suited for winter weather survival. According to the National Park Service, moose grow fur ideal for winter with long, hollow strands of hair that make up a dense undercoat, trapping air and keeping them warm.
They also possess long legs for efficient movement through deep snow and a highly developed sense of smell to find shrubs buried under the flakes.

Their chocolate color helps them absorb every ray of sunshine, and their nasal passages are even designed to heat air when it’s inhaled, warming their lungs.
