WILSON, Wyo. — Children cast their lines in hopes of catching a cutthroat trout during the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s (WGFD) annual, free Kids Fishing Day at R Park on June 7.
The warm weather and bluebird skies brought out children of all ages to try their luck at the ponds along the Snake River. Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer joined the festivities to capture the family fun.
According to the WGFD, hundreds of catchable-sized Snake River cutthroat trout were released into the ponds prior to the event.
Kids were given a complimentary fishing rod and worm bait, and educators were on hand to teach fishing skills. Different learning stations shared information about fish, aquatic life, boating, river safety and more.
After a round of fishing, children could enjoy a free hotdog, or participate in a scavenger hunt.
