JACKSON, Wyo. — Despite the summery daytime temperatures, fall colors are everywhere.
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer captured the luminous hues of the season as leaves continue to change all over the valley.
Warm days combined with colder nights lead to the change of scenery. Sugars are produced by leaves in warm sunshine, but cold overnight temperatures gradually close a leaf’s veins, preventing the sugars from spreading.
The gradual absence of chlorophyll allows other chemically induced colors to take over, including yellows, oranges and reds.

Autumnal hues might have reached their peak already, as many local trees have dropped their leaves.
