JACKSON, Wyo. — Fares are set to change for START bus riders this winter due to the recent loss of $1.5 million in federal funding for the organization. The rates are part of an agreed-upon plan to curb the loss. Some changes will affect previously free services, like the Town Shuttle and START On-Demand.

Starting Nov. 27, one-way fares for START will be $2, which includes START On-Demand, Town Shuttle and Teton Village routes. Round-trip fares between Jackson and Teton Village are set at $4. Stilson will no longer be a free option, and riders will be required to pay $2 for a bus ride from Stilson to Teton Village.

Commuter routes connecting Star Valley to Jackson and Teton Valley to Jackson will cost $10 each way.

Ten-ticket packs will be for sale: the Jackson/Teton Village Pack is set at $16 and the Commuter Pack will run $60. Each ticket counts for a one-way fare.

Those interested in season passes can purchase a one or six-month pass to commute around Jackson and Teton Village. One month will run a commuter $50 while the six-month commitment is priced at $150. These fares include unlimited rides for START On-Demand, Town Shuttle and Teton Village routes.

Universal passes, which cover all START services including the Star Valley and Teton Valley routes, will cost $120 for one month, $499 for six months and $899 for a full year.

Passes are available for sale at the START headquarters or Town Hall.
