JACKSON, Wyo. — Snake River Fund and JH Kayak Club invite the greater Yellowstone community and those visiting from afar to the 4th annual Snake River Fest, which runs from June 6 to June 8 at venues throughout the Snake River watershed.
Now in its fourth year, Snake River Fest celebrates these federally designated Wild & Scenic streams with informational booths, exciting competitions, family friendly activities, live music, food and brews. Â
Snake River Fest is more than just a celebration. It is a call to action. While this watershed enjoys a reputation for pristine conditions and immense recreational opportunities, it actually faces many challenges, including potential access limitations, water quality issues, increasing bankside development and the implications of climate change.
Despite these issues, nonprofit partners, businesses and the community as a whole have come together to protect this precious resource. It can be seen with the numerous conservation projects on streams throughout the water meant to preserve ecological health. It is apparent in the constant on-water educational programs offered by organizations that get the community’s underserved populations out on rivers and lakes. And it is visible in the drive amongst nonprofits and businesses to promote recreational access and safety.
Snake River Fest was created to celebrate these accomplishments and raise awareness of what river lovers face in the coming years. So let’s celebrate!
