DRIGGS, Idaho — Teton Valley residents can say hi to Smokey Bear this Saturday, May 4, during Teton Valley’s Community Wildfire Preparedness Day.

Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Teton County Fire and Rescue, Teton County Emergency Management, Idaho Falls District BLM and the Nature Conservancy Fire Learning Network are hosting the event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Teton Basin Ranger District office located on 495 South Main, in Driggs.

Smokey Bear’s visit will kick off the wildfire awareness day, with various booths and demonstrations educating community members about wildfire and earthquake preparedness. Fire educators will explain how residents can receive a home ignition zone evaluation, and share tips for creating an evacuation plan. There will also be information on various grant opportunities for home fire mitigation.

Learn what it means to be “Firewise,” enjoy a hot dog or hamburger (while they last) and remember to get a photo with Smokey Bear!
