MOOSE, Wyo. — A skier was rescued from Grand Teton National Park Saturday afternoon after falling and seriously injuring her leg.

GTNP spokesperson Denise Germann said dispatch got the call at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Two skiers were skiing Olive Oil, near the mouth of Granite Canyon. A 30-year-old Vermont woman fell and sustained “serious injuries” to her leg.

Teton County Search and Rescue and Grand Teton National Park rangers worked together to get the woman out safely. One ranger flew to the scene and short-hauled her out on Search & Rescue’s helicopter. The heli landed near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the patient was transported to St. John’s Health.

“It was fortunate we were able to use the short-haul to get to her,” Germann said.
