Sheriff’s office investigating two deaths in Hoback

UPDATE: The Teton County Coroner’s office has ruled the cause of death for Barbel Munz as a gunshot wound in the manner of homicide and Heinrich Johann Karl Munz as a gunshot wound in the manner of suicide.

JACKSON, WY — The Teton County Sheriff’s Office and Teton County Coroner’s Office are investigating two deaths from suspicious injuries in Hoback.

According to a press release from the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, a home health care worker called 911 this afternoon after finding a deceased adult female in a home who appeared to have a suspicious injury. Deputies confirmed the woman was deceased and appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. The body of an adult male, who also appeared to have suffered a traumatic injury, was found near the victim. A handgun was recovered near the man’s body.

The Teton County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Babs Munz, 64, and Heinrich Munz, 69.

Investigators are still on-scene. The Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is assisting in the investigation.

TSCO says there is no suspected danger to area residents and no outstanding suspects are being sought at this time.
