JACKSON, Wyo. — Last week, Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) shared footage of Jackson Hole Ski Patrol’s savvy patrol dogs.

“Our team got in some real-world avalanche rescue training recently with Jackson Hole Ski Patrol and their amazing search dogs,” said TCSAR.

“Say hello to Scout…making it look easy.”

For years, canines have been useful companions during ski patrol rescue operations as they can cover more ground at a much faster pace than their human counterparts. For example, in about 30 minutes an avalanche dog can typically search 2.5 acres which is approximately the area of two football fields. To search the same area, it would take 20 people about eight times longer. Patrol and avalanche dogs are a crucial component to ski patrol’s search and rescue techniques.

She's a lover of alliteration, easy-to-follow recipes and board games when everyone knows the rules. Her favorite aspect about living in the Tetons is the collective admiration that Wyomingites share for the land and the life that it sustains.
