JACSKON, Wyo. — Retired Jackson Hole Fire/EMS (JHF/EMS) Fire Chief Ken Sutton was inducted into the Wyoming Fire Service Hall of Fame this month.

Chief Sutton started his career with Teton County in 1979 as Assistant County Fire Warden, before serving as Administrative Fire Chief and County Fire Warden between 1983 and 2004.

“Chief Sutton was very proactive in fire prevention during his time with Teton County and worked to create a county resolution to ban the sale of fireworks in Teton County in 1985, resulting in a distinct decline in wildland fire,” said JFH/EMS interim Fire Chief Mike Moyer in a statement.

During his tenure, Chief Sutton belonged to the Rural Firefighters Association starting in 1981 and served for 14 years on the Wyoming Fire Advisory board, with 10 years as president.

“Chief Sutton is a respected member of the Wyoming Fire Service and most assuredly deserves his placement in the Wyoming Firefighters Hall of Fame,” said retired JHF/EMS Fire Chief Willy Watsabaugh, who recommended Chief Sutton’s nomination, in a statement from JHF/EMS.
