JACKSON, Wyo. — Police are searching for clues in the case of two arson episodes uncovered in the early morning hours of August 15.
The Jackson Police Department responded late Friday night/early Saturday morning to an arson call regarding a gas can that was completely ablaze. The call was logged at 1:38 a.m. Officers arrived to find a plastic gas can on fire at the intersection of Redmond and Simpson. Nearby, another gas can was also burning in a parking lot just south of the First Baptist Church.
“Maybe someone was thinking this horribly foolish act would be a fun prank,” said Lt. Roger Schultz, “but we don’t see it as fun. We call it Felony Arson.”
Investigators are following up leads including checking for outdoor surveillance cameras that may have picked up something.
