Post 43 Giants face Sheridan to begin post-season play

JACKSON, Wyo. — The Post 43 Giants (22-28) get post season play underway today at 1 p.m. with a matchup against the Sheridan Troopers (37-20). The teams have not met this season.

The Giants are expected to start their ace Parker Bleggi. Bleggi last pitched July 27 in a losing effort against Casper, so he should be well rested. He threw 77 pitches in that game and left with a no decision with his team in the lead.

Pitching will be the Giants biggest issue as manager Jason Huggins has to decide when and how he will deploy a thin bullpen. If the team is to win a title, they will have to win three games.

Does Huggins save his other top pitchers like Seth Christiansen and Connor Lang for future starts, or will he feel pressured to bring them in if Bleggi struggles?

The bats are solid, even with the loss of Aaron Moya, who has left the team for basic training—a commitment he made prior to the start of the season.

Leadoff hitter Parker Bleggi has been at the heart of most every Giants rally. Mason Wright has been a solid number two hitter, followed by the meat of the order in Seth Christiansen, Quentin Bruno, and Connor Lang. And there are always unsung heroes like Grant Parkin, Steven Ashurts, Xander Witt, and Cooper Christensen who could come up with a big hit in the clutch.

The winner of today’s game will face the winner of Rocks Springs vs. Gillette. The loser heads to Loser’s Bracket where one more loss means elimination.
