JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Here are some recent calls for service in Teton County/Jackson from the dispatch log. Names may be withheld at the request of law enforcement. All persons cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filing from the Teton County Attorney’s Office.

February 16, 2020, 9:34 a.m.
Cpl. P. Smith responded to a report of Destruction of Property. The victim reported seeing a woman ‘key’ his vehicle because she didn’t like where he had parked. Cpl. P. Smith will be doing some follow-up to identify the woman.

February 14, 2020, 1:41 p.m.
Officer Raab responded to a disturbance. It was reported that an older man was attempting to leave a restaurant without paying his tab. Officer Raab learned the man had attempted to pay with a fraudulent check and tried to run when the bartender recognized it as a fake. A witness just happened to be present that had seen the man attempt the same thing in Utah. Police arrested the 59-year-old transient man for Defrauding and Innkeeper. He has a lengthy criminal history of the same type of behavior.

February 14, 2020, 10:07 p.m.
Sgt. Ruschill responded to a Collision Hit & Run. The vehicle owner was told by a third party that his parked vehicle was struck. An investigation revealed that the legally parked mini-van was struck when another vehicle left an alley and made a too-narrow-radius turn to the right and collided with the parked vehicle. Leads were not substantial enough to determine a suspect.

February 15, 2020, 2:15 a.m.
Officer O’Donnell responded to a report of an intoxicated male who had urinated on a taxi cab. Officer O’Donnell arrived to find the man appeared heavily intoxicated and didn’t know how he was getting home, or where home even was. Officer O’Donnell had to arrest the 45-year-old Phoenix, Arizona man for Public Intoxication.

February 15, 2020, 2:53 p.m.
Officer Mattson responded to a report of an intoxicated female. He arrived, found the female and detained her so he could figure out what to do with her. Getting an intoxicated person home is always the first choice of law enforcement, but in this case the only option was to arrest the 27-year-old Bedford, Wyoming woman for Public Intoxication. When cops tried to put her in the police car, she started kicking. Fortunately, no one got hurt and she was booked into the jail safely.

February 15, 2020, 5:05 p.m.
Cpl. Jones responded to a report of Shoplifting. A man was being detained by store employees after having been caught shoplifting some sushi. The man had also allegedly done the same on previous occasions, totaling about $175 in losses. Cpl. Jones gave the man a citation and he was removed from the property.

February 15, 2020, 11:27 p.m.
Cpl. C. Smith stopped a vehicle for multiple lane violations leading him to suspect the driver was intoxicated. He contacted the driver and found that he did appear intoxicated. Cpl. C. Smith administered some field sobriety testing and the man did poorly. His portable breath test was a .14%.

February 16, 2020, 1:38 a.m.
Sgt. Ruschill responded to a one-vehicle collision. He arrived to find a 17-year-old driver who appeared intoxicated and had rolled his vehicle. Sgt. Ruschill arrested the driver, contacted his parents, and released the juvenile to an adult with the following citations: Speed Faster than Reasonably Prudent, Failing to Maintain Lane, and DUI. His alcohol test was a .09%.

February 17, 2020, 2:36 a.m.
RO White responded to a report of a woman who said a man had urinated in her yard and tried to get into her house. Police arrived and searched the area. The suspect’s tracks were followed to a residence, but no match was possible with the information obtained. Police say they will keep an eye on the victim’s house and refer her to the Community Safety Network for extra advice and assistance.

February 17, 2020 12:48 p.m.
Officer Osmond responded to a report of someone who fell on town property. Looks like the person slipped on some ice. The person was transported to the hospital for possible injury.

Sgt. Phillips responded to a report of Collision Hit & Run. The collision reportedly occurred the day before. The vehicle was struck while parked in a business parking lot.

February 17, 2020, 10:02 p.m.
RO White responded to a report of a man who was having mental issues and who was also believed to be intoxicated. The man also chose to drive his vehicle in that condition as well. Cops found him and RO White administered some field sobriety tests. The 30-year-old Jackson man did poorly on those tests and was arrested for DUI. His mental issues were more important, though, so police took him to the hospital.

February 18, 2020, 2:15 p.m.
Officer Osmond responded to the Probation & Parole office to help out one of the state probation officers. One of their people got themselves “sideways with the rules” and had to be arrested.

February 18, 2020, 7:47 p.m.
Officer Lancaster responded to the Virginian Saloon for a Disturbance. It was reported that a male subject was being aggressive, screaming at the bartender and refusing to leave. Officer Lancaster took some time to explain to the man the Virginian Saloon was a private business and that he could be asked to leave. He took time to explain the consequences for not leaving. Lancaster even shared told the man he didn’t want to arrest him. After listening, the man decided to stay and face the consequences of that decision. Officer Lancaster arrested the 71-year-old Surprise, Arizona man for Trespassing.

February 18, 2020, 11:11 p.m.
RO White responded to a report of Theft of Services. An intoxicated subject apparently got a taxi ride to a bar, but then only paid half the fare. RO White contacted the man and determined he didn’t have money or means to pay the rest of the fare. He also had a warrant for his arrest. RO White arrested the 37-year-old Boise, Idaho man for the warrant and Theft of Services.

February 20, 2020, 8:37 p.m.
Officer Gerlach (the deer whisperer) responded to assist Wyoming Probation and Parole. He assisted a probation officer in arresting ta man who was acting in violation of his probation.

February 22, 2020, 7:36 a.m.
Cpl. P. Smith responded to a report of Destruction of Property. The victim reported his post office box had been damaged by graffiti.

February 21, 2020, 1:22 a.m.
Officer O’Donnell responded to a report of an intoxicated man. He found the man kneeling in Phil Beaux Park staring east. Though dressed fairly well for conditions, the man appeared to be suffering from exposure in the -10 degree temperatures. Officer O’Donnell arrested the 26-year-old Jackson man for Public Intoxication to make sure he had a warm place to be until he was sober enough to make his way home.

February 21, 2020, 3:59 p.m.
Officer Mattson was driving down the road when he saw three elementary age boys chasing his police car. When he stopped, he found out the boys had just found a $100 dollar bill. They wanted to make sure it got back to the rightful owner. Officer Mattson has reached out to the residents where money was found and police are waiting to hear back from an owner.

Officer Raab responded to a report of found drug paraphernalia. We collected the item and booked it for destruction.

February 22, 2020, 12:42 a.m.
Officer O’Donnell responded to a report of an intoxicated person creating a disturbance at the Rose. The man was apparently ejected by bar staff, pushed a woman and then got into an argument with her husband. The man fled before officers arrived, but O’Donnell found him about 20 minutes later. He appeared heavily intoxicated and was missing one shoe. The 47-year-old Big Sky, Montana man was arrested for Public Intoxication. The arrestee’s portable breath test was a .256%.

February 22, 2020, 1:49 a.m.
Sgt. Ruschill stopped a vehicle on suspicion of DUI. He contacted the driver and suspected he was intoxicated. Field sobriety testing was performed and the man did poorly. The 29-year-old Jackson man was arrested for driving under the influence.

February 22, 2020, 11:35 a.m.
Sgt. Phillips responded to a report of theft. The victim reported that someone had stolen the license plates off their vehicle. If you see anyone sporting the license plate 22-8413, please give police a call.

February 24, 2020, 12:30 a.m.
Officer Lancaster responded to a report of a disturbance between several males pushing each other. He arrived at the scene, separated the persons involved, and learned one of the men had been harassing a female, which is what started the chest bumping. As Officer Lancaster was sorting things out, the suspect fled on foot. Officer Lancaster caught up with the 54-year-old Crawford, Georgia man and arrested him for Interference with Police Officer.

February 24, 2020, 3:13 a.m.
Sgt. Phillips took a report of Fraud. He has taken several related reports that involve an artist having sold artwork, but failing to deliver the product. Sgt. Phillips is investigating.

RO White responded to a report of a disturbance between a man and woman. She arrived but the suspect had already left. RO White learned from the victim that during an argument, the suspect had choked her. Police are still looking for the suspect. They have his name.

Officer Lancaster stopped a vehicle for speeding. He attempted to contact the driver, but the man hurriedly got out of the car and walked away. Officer Lancaster called for him to stop, but the man kept walking. Officers had to physically grab him to get him to stop, but he kept trying to get away. While attempting to restrain the man, Officer Lancaster noted he smelled of alcohol, slurred his words and also smelled like marijuana. He and another officer were able to get the 45-year-old Jackson man detained and eventually charged him with DUI, Interference, Speeding, and for not having a valid driver’s license.
