JACKSON HOLE, WYO – State highway road crews, Grand Teton Park contractors, and Town Street Public Works employees have all been busting their butts for days on end now as February gave us her worst. As the month ends, so do the storms…for now. Tomorrow’s forecast through the weekend looks clear but there is still more winter to go.

Our area plow drivers and support staff have been at it pretty steady for a while now and at least one local business owner thought they deserved a little recognition and free grub to fuel up on as they get hard after it again today.

Tom Fay, owner of Pinky G’s Pizza, today made a special delivery to the Town’s streets crew and all of the contractors in the Public Works Department today. Faye said he wanted to say thank you for all the crew is doing to keep the streets in Jackson clear of snow.

For many on the Streets Team, an average day starts at 1:30am when they wake up and drive into work. They are typically behind the wheels of plows, graters, and dump trucks by 2:30am working to clear the streets while most of us are sound asleep. They do this because, in theory, there are no cars parked on the streets and traffic in town is light. They are able to work quickly and efficiently.

Typically, they are finished up by 11:30am. But nothing about this last month has been typical. These last two storms have created unique situations with a large amount of snow, and the streets team has been working extra hours to maintain our streets.

There is always somebody from the Streets Team working. This is a job that needs attention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week…just like our Police Officers and Fire/EMS staff.

Pinky G’s saw the need and stepped up with lunch today. For that, they get a callout from us. And from Buckrail: All you guys and gals out there helping us get to where we’re going safely, we salute you.
