The Calamity Road Paving Project is well underway, and while it’s happening, one of the main access roads to the Palisade’s west side will be closed on weekdays.

Gravel Flats Road from the Snake River Bridge to Calamity Road and down to the Calamity Boat Ramp on the Palisades Reservoir will be closed on weekdays until September 6. The closures are effective from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. – noon on Friday.

“The closure hours are being strictly adhered to by the construction crews, and we ask that members of the public do the same,” a newsletter from the Western Federal Lands Highway Division said.

Construction consists of a 12-inch thick, full depth reclamation of the existing roadway with cement, a pavement structure with 2.5 inches of asphalt pavement, installation of new culverts, permanent signage and striping.
