JACKSON, Wyo. — The public comment period for the updated Rec Center fees opens today, March 1.
The Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department Director, Steve Ashworth, presented the proposed fee schedule for fiscal year 24/45 to town and county elected officials during a Feb. 6 meeting.

The new fee schedule would be rolled out in two phases. On Jan. 1, 2024, fees for the aquatic and gym facility will increase and on April 15, 2024, fees for general admission, equipment rentals and other associated fees will be increased, to align with the new Rec Center public opening.
Currently, an annual pass for adults 18-64 years old costs $405 for the aquatic center and gym only. The proposed fee effective April 15, 2024, would increase the annual adult pass to $900. Annual passes for youths, seniors and active military members will increase from $267 to $740.
A new offering, the family annual pass, will cost $1,350 for up to three people, with an additional $200 for each additional family member.
In the new facility, the Rec Center expects to sell an estimated 15,000 day use passes to adults annually. Day use fees for adults are proposed to increase by $16.
| Fee | FY25 proposed fee | FY23 current fee |
| Day Use-Adult | $23 | $7 |
| Day Use-Youth 11-17 | $16 | $5 |
| Day Use-Youth 3-10 | $8 | $5 |
| Day Use-Active military, 65+ | $17 | $5 |
The 10-punch card pass will also see significant fee increases. Currently, an adult pass is $34 but the proposed fee is set at $200, costing $20 per visit compared to $3.40.
Two hour blocks to rent half the gym will increase from $60 to $175 for adults and from $30 to $125 for youth/nonprofits.
The new climbing gym will be available for rental in two hour blocks. The full climbing wall rental is $400. To rent just the mezzanine climbing area will cost $275. Harnesses and shoes will also be available to rent. Each item is $6 for adults and $3 for youths. Chalk bag rentals are $5.
The full fee schedule is available here. The fee schedule originally presented to the Town and County is available on page 5 of the staff report and includes current fees.
Reduced fees
The Rec Center is proposing a reduced fee program for qualified users who are full time residents within 70 miles of Teton County.
Participants must complete and online application to qualify. Once qualified, discounts will be applied to annual memberships, 3-month or monthly passes (require auto-pay), afterschool and summer camp programs and youth group swim lessons.

The Rec Center is currently being renovated and expanded, per a 2019 approved SPET measure. Voters approved $22 million in funding for the project but the project has since increased to $33 million.
According to the staff report from the Feb. 6 meeting, “the proposed operations plan is expected to significantly increase cost recovery, from a current rate of 18% to approximately 46-48%. This increase however does not fully account for all increases in operations cost due to staffing growth, maintenance and general operations.”
The comment period will be open for 45 days begining today, March 1. A hearing to take testimony on the proposed rules will be held by the Parks and Recreation Board on May 11 at 5 p.m. at the Teton County Commissioner’s Chambers. The town and county will take testimony on June 5 at 3 p.m. during a regular joint meeting.
Comments may be emailed to sashworth@tetoncountywy.gov or mailed to P.O. Box 811, Jackson, WY 83001 before the hearing dates to be included in the hearings.
