JACKSON, Wyo. — Preparations will begin this week for a new section of pathway in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) linking the park pathway from Gros Ventre Junction to the Jackson Hole Community Pathways system along Spring Gulch Road, Teton County has announced.
The mile-long pathway section will be accompanied by the addition of a small parking area.
“The new pathway connection will enhance opportunities to walk, ride and skate within the park and county, improve safety of pedestrians and vehicular traffic and provide an additional connection from the park to the JHCP system,” Teton County’s press release said.
Teton County and the National Park Service have partnered on this project. Work will be carried out by the Federal Highway Administration, with funding provided through the Wyoming Federal Lands Access Program and Friends of Pathways. This section of pathway will be maintained by the county.
Revegetation of the site will occur once construction is complete, the county said.
According to Teton County’s Public Information Specialist Kristen Waters, construction is not expected to impact traffic in the Spring Gulch Road area.
