JACKSON, Wyo. — The Teton County Fair has an exciting line-up of night events this year, including one new event.

The Horse Pulls will take place on Thursday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Rodeo Arena. Tickets are $5 per person. The only sold-out event is the highly anticipated Figure 8 Races on Sunday night. Tickets are also still available for Saturday night’s Rodeo.

The Horse Pull competition originated when horses were still used for daily farm work. Farmers would challenge one another to see whose horse or team could pull the most weight. Since then, horse pulling has evolved into an organized sport with teams of equine athletes. The team that can pull the most weight, appropriate to the size of the horse, wins.

“We’re really excited to bring this event to the Fair,” Teton County Fair and Fairgrounds Manager Rachel Grimes said. “Local teams from Teton Valley, Idaho, and Star Valley, Wyoming, are here to compete, as well as teams from Utah, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.”
