Motorcycle crash near Hulett kills passenger   Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news

WYOMING – Wyoming Highway Patrol is reporting a highway fatality near Hulett last week.

WHP was called out to milepost 6 on US 212 outside of Hulett at around 1:20pm on June 22. Troopers were dispatched to the area for reports of a motorcycle crash.

A 2010 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle was traveling westbound on US 212. Due to rainy conditions, the driver encountered slick road surfaces and a buildup of bentonite mud deposits. The driver of the motorcycle lost control of his vehicle and tipped over, causing the driver and passenger to be thrown from the vehicle.

The passenger of the Honda Gold Wing succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash. She has been identified as Linda Elbert, 59, of Whittemore, Iowa. Elbert was not wearing helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver has been identified as 60-year-old William Elbert, also of Whittemore, Iowa. He was also not wearing a helmet. William Elbert was transported by ambulance to Spearfish Regional Hospital and was hospitalized for his injuries.

This is the 43rd fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2018 compared to 62 in 2017, 40 in 2016, and 64 in 2015 to date.
