WILSON, Wyo. — The Mosquito Creek fire, discovered on Aug. 9 is still actively burning.

According to Teton Interagency Fire, the fire is about 45 percent contained as of yesterday. Crews continue to prepare the control line and check for spot fires. The fire has grown to approximately 6.5 acres.

The cause of the fire has been attributed to lightning. Crews are working toward full suppression due to proximity to the community, limited fire response resources nationally and dry vegetation conditions.

While today seems smokier than the past few days, smoke may be visible from the valley floor and for those commuting over Teton Pass to and from Jackson.

Currently, there are no area closures but fire managers are asking everyone to help fight this fire by staying out of the way of operations.
