JACKSON, Wyo. — For the last five years and nine months, Milo Matthews has been living in a bus and touring the U.S., Germany, and beyond. According to a recent post on his Facebook page, this era dubbed “Milo Omni World Tour” will come to a close in Jackson this weekend with a two-show run at the Silver Dollar Showroom. Note the earlier showtimes below.

Though Matthews hails from Boston where he began playing bass at age twelve, the former subway busker eventually moved to Alaska for ten years, Hawaii for several years, and most recently, Sisters, Oregon. His solo shows incorporate looping, a drum pad, and octave pedals to create a bass-heavy spectrum that digs into jazz, blues, pop, rock and funk. He released his fourth record Shapeshifter in 2017, which was recorded on his bus.

Matthews will lay down roots in a different locale for the winter months, working on a film and new music project called The Last Goodbye. The latter will feature mostly songs from the 1970s that have been lifelong influences.

Milo, 7-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Silver Dollar Showroom for the “Sit Down Get Down” series. Free.
