JACKSON, Wyo. — The Millward Waterline Replacement Project, which started in late August, has replaced the main water pipe from Hansen Ave. through Pearl Ave. Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 1, construction crews will be setting new curbs, sidewalks and gutters in the Pearl/Millward intersection.
According to the Town of Jackson, replacing the water pipes has been more challenging than expected due to old pipes and difficult hook-ups but the new pipes are in and connected and there will be no further water shutdowns.
“This water-main replacement will mean fresh and clean water continues to be available for years to come,” Town of Jackson said in the announcement.
This week, crews will be working on a gutter system and sidewalk removal. Additionally, each corner of the Pearl/Millward intersection will be replaced to correct out of compliance ADA wheelchair ramps.
Final asphalt paving is scheduled for Oct. 7 and 8, weather permitting. Traffic cones will remain situated by the valve boxes as asphalt is poured around the boxes. The Town of Jackson Public Works anticipates re-opening Millward and Pearl by Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Sidewalk closure signs at each intersection will be placed to guide pedestrians around the work zone.
“The Town is grateful to everyone who has been inconvenienced as this project’s overlap with Wyoming Department of Transportation’s (WYDOT’s) major overhaul of Broadway was not anticipated,” Town of Jackson said in the announcement. “We offer particular thanks to the businesses that were impacted for their patience and understanding as water had to be turned on and off intermittently.”
