JACKSON, WY — A little rain couldn’t keep the hungry supporters of Hole Food Rescue away from the nonprofit’s 5th annual Million Pound Party.

“I am honestly just overwhelmed at how successful the event was regardless of the rain,” said HFR board member and party coordinator Lisa Lent.

Pig was the theme of the evening, and seven chefs from six local restaurants competed in a pig roast/cook-off for the “Golden Pig Award. ” The party’s attendees were the judges and got to sample each dish and vote on their favorite.

In first place this year, for the second year in a row: chefs Tropher Stittmatter and Michael Rollinson from The Handle Bar.

Joel Tate of Bovine & Swine took home 2nd, and Cody Alen of Calico came in 3rd. It was a close call and a hard vote — all seven dishes were unique and delicious.

Keeping with the theme, One Ton Pig set the mood with live music all night. It was a celebration in the truest sense, and it produced practically no waste. The silverware and napkins were reusable, the plates compostable, and plenty of patrons brought their own cups or sipped from The Center’s glasses.

The rain only fell for a few minutes, and the rainbow that followed made the evening feel even more divine.”This community is like no other — our volunteers are outstanding, and I just love how everyone shows up for a good cause,” Lent said.
