JACKSON, Wyo. —START Bus’s on-demand Microtransit system servicing East Jackson launches tomorrow, Nov. 27.
The service will provide fare-free, on-demand transportation using smaller vehicles between the western boundary of Karns Meadow and the Town’s eastern limits. Service will be available from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
Riders will be able to schedule service through an app from their location to any destination in East Jackson including to START’s transit hub for connection to commuter, local and Teton Village routes.
Skiers in East Jackson, be aware that rides to the Village will now be via an On-Demand car to transfer to a bus at Miller Park.
In September, the START Board selected the firm Downtowner, LLC as its preferred vendor for its new Microtransit service.
Microtranist aims to solve two aspects; to operate fixed routes more efficiently and better serve the dispersed areas of East Jackson.
“Microtransit service will replace the circulator routes in East Jackson, taking numerous large vehicles off small, neighborhood streets, and implementing a key element of START’s broader Route Plan,” wrote Community Engagement Specialist Susan Scaralata in a September email.
