Marten Creek Fire rages along Greys River Road.

STAR VALLEY, WYO – The Marten Creek Fire showed moderate growth over the weekend. Sunday was a red flag warning day with another in store today.

The Marten Creek Fire is at 6,310 acres with 20% containment. Taiga Rohrer, ICT2 Team has 341 personnel assigned to the blaze.

Rohrer said he plans to continue to build and secure line from north A/Z division break and east from A/Z division break. His team will also utilize aerial resources to slow fire growth where possible. Priority remains on keeping the fire from progressing to the east and west of main fire.

Firefighters held the fire within most containment lines on the west, south, and east yesterday. The fire crossed the lines in a few places, but firefighters quickly contained those small areas. Two new crews were flown into the east side to increase the number of firefighters working there.

Today will be another difficult day for firefighters with low high winds, low humidity, and higher temperatures creating perfect conditions for a very large fire. Tuesday’s forecast looks more encouraging as temperatures will remain cool with a high in the low 60s. There is no rain in sight until perhaps the weekend.
