Torching observed on the Marten Creek Fire.

STAR VALLEY, WYO – Less windy conditions and cooler temperatures assisted firefighting efforts yesterday on the Marten Creek Fire.

The fire has 353 personnel assigned for the 6,472-acres blaze that is now 62% contained.

The more favorable weather helped to moderate fire behavior, resulting in a significant increase in fire containment. Air operations were also able to capitalize on these conditions and continued to assist in suppression efforts.

Firefighters will continue to concentrate their efforts on the north and north west side of the fire by working to connect areas already under containment. The small contingency team that has been identified to preserve historic structures near Cottonwood Creek will continue to work in that area.

The Marten Creek Fire is producing less smoke than it did last week. Be ready to take precautions if you or your family are sensitive to smoke.
