JACKSON, Wyo. — A man was killed when a trench collapsed on him on Monday afternoon at 3 Creek Ranch, according to Jackson Hole Fire/EMS.

The man was working on a waterline trench at the golf resort when he was fatally crushed. He succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified of the incident and will be investigating the circumstances of the worker’s death. The trench was adjacent to a previously excavated ditch, which might have been a factor in the collapse. Rainy weather also potentially played a part.

Details surrounding the worker’s identity are being kept under wraps until the Teton County Sheriff’s Office can reach his family.

The incident remains under investigation.

Two men were killed in a similar incident in 2018, when a trench collapsed on workers on Indian Springs Drive.
