JACKSON, Wyo. — A Friday announcement by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Wyoming, details another case of a local driving under the influence in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP).
Boston Heil, 25, of Jackson, pled guilty to speeding, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a breath test in GTNP, according to the announcement. He was sentenced to seven days of incarceration (with credit for two days previously served), two years of unsupervised probation and the payment of $980 in fines.
The Attorney’s Office noted that under American search and seizure codes, the operator of a motor vehicle refusing a breath test on public land leads to a one-year ban on operating a motor vehicle on all federal lands in the U.S.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariel Calmes prosecuted the crime and U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick imposed the sentence on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Mammoth, Wyoming.
In late January, a man was similarly sentenced for driving under the influence in Yellowstone National Park. Similar cases were prosecuted in December 2024 in both Yellowstone and GTNP.
