ALTA, Wyo. — On Monday, June 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alta Elementary School gym, community members are invited to attend an evening with local fire chiefs and the U.S. Forest Service to learn about how emergency responses are coordinated and how best to implement wildfire mitigation practices.

The night will include talks by Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Chief Mike Moyer, U.S. Forest Service Fire Management Officer Spencer Johnston and Teton County Fire and Rescue (Idaho) Chief Mike Maltaverne.

Attendees can expect to learn about wildfire mitigation resources available to homeowners and will gain insight into partnerships with “regional mitigation collaborative groups,” according to a press release.

The release states that the event is intended to increase community understanding and engagement on fire mitigation, and should teach residents how to practically reduce wildfire risk.
