JACKSON, Wyo. — The Fourth of July Parade in Jackson was back this year in full force after being canceled last summer due to COVID-19 concerns.

Beginning at 10 a.m at the Rodeo Grounds, 50 floats paraded the streets of downtown Jackson, Sunday, July 4. Two judges from Vertical Harvest judged the floats and awarded the top three 2021 Fourth of July parade winners.

LGBTQ+ JH was awarded first place. According to the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce website, LGBTQ+ took first for their recruitment, inclusivity and ability to work the crowd.

Over 30 walkers and dogs participated along with the float, carrying signs, waving flags and throwing candy to the crowd.

Hot Tub Truck took second place. According to the Chamber, the judges chose them for their creativity, enthusiasm, and, of course, the music. The Jackson Hole Sting Rays Swim Club took third place, It was their unison cheering that won the crowd, and judges, over, said the Chamber.

There are two more LGBTQ+ events being held this month. This Saturday, July 10, a poetry reading and workshop with Poet and Activist, Andrés Sánchez will be held at Mike Yokel Park at 4 p.m. The event is free. On Sunday, July 11, A Gender Diversity Celebration Picnic will be held at Phil Baux Park from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and is sponsored by PFLAG, Gender Spectrum and Teton Youth & Family Services.
