JACKSON, Wyo. — In preparation for its first-ever Teen Page to the Podium event, featuring Young Adult author Jason Reynolds, Teton County Library (TCL) is offering youth the chance to submit an original poster design that will be used to promote the September talk.
To help young creatives find inspiration, the Library and Art Association will offer a poster design drop-in session at the Library’s Youth Auditorium on Tuesday, April 16 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
A variety of art supplies and Reynolds’ book covers will be available during the poster-making event.
“In addition to being a hugely popular and critically acclaimed author, Jason spent two years traveling the country and talking to readers as the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, so it’s quite an honor for our community to get to have him as a speaker,” TCL Adult Programs Coordinator Leah Shlachter said in the announcement. “We thought it would be fun to spread the word about his talk using imagery created by those who read his work most, our young people.”
Jason Reynolds is a bestselling author of 17 books for youth, the recipient of a Newbery Honor, a Printz Honor, an NAACP Image Award and served as the 2020/2022 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. He is on faculty at Lesley University, for the Writing for Young People MFA Program.
