JACKSON, Wyo. — For most folks, the holidays will look a little different this year — with friends and family at a (social) distance. But that doesn’t mean we can’t all celebrate. We just need to get creative.

Vertical Harvest has some inventive ideas to keep your holiday meals merry and bright. With many of their sources for local products currently closed for the off-season, they are finding ways to make certain that you can still access their freshly grown produce and other unique specials.

Thanksgiving Harvest Box
Developed in partnership with two other Teton Valley businesses, Bread & Blossom and Winter Winds Farm, Vertical Harvest’s Thanksgiving Harvest Box is full of treats to jump-start your Turkey Day menu prep. Buy one for yourself and one (or more) for nearby loved ones or local buddies you normally host for Friendsgiving. Make the same recipes, buy the same wines, schedule a time on Zoom and BOOM — virtual Thanksgiving.

  • Sweet Mix Lettuce Heads
  • Autumn Blend Petite Greens

About Winter Winds Farm

Photo: Winter Winds Farm

Winter Winds Farm is a small homestead goat farm in Victor, Idaho. Owners Jessica Konrath and Mark Farmer — along with their 70 Nubian Goats — make raw-milk aged cheeses, Teton Tomme and Tar-Gouda, that are available year round. They also make a number of fresh pasteurized cheeses, including four different Chevre varieties, two Crottins and a Robiola, which is included in the box.

They love it when people visit the farm so that they can teach them about the goats and cheese-making process and hope to offer cheese tastings or cheesemaking classes in the near future.

Robiola is an Italian-style, soft-ripened cheese traditionally enjoyed before a meal, often with a drizzle of honey, which makes it the perfect cheese for the Thanksgiving Harvest Box. Until now, the Robiola has been sold exclusively at farmers markets where it always sold out quickly and has started to develop an excited fanbase in the valley. You can’t find it anywhere else this holiday season.

About Bread & Blossom

Photo: Sonya Raab, Bread & Blossom

Bread and Blossom was founded in Jackson in early 2020 and has been blossoming ever since. Unlike most store-bought dressings, which have preservatives and are seldom made with fresh or local ingredients, owner Sonya Raab works with local farmers to get their amazing offerings into her products.

Bread and Blossom’s sourdough bread took First Place in the Teton County Fair for best overall baked item and Sonya’s stand at the People’s Market regularly sells out. Follow her Instagram account @breadandblossom to find her during the winter season and look for the Bread and Blossom website coming soon.

Sonya’s tips for the Bread and Blossom items in the Thanksgiving Harvest Box:

  • Date Dijonette: Shake well before using. Made from 100% pressed date, organic extra virgin olive oil, rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar and organic dijon mustard, the contents tend to settle.
  • Sourdough Rolls: Reheat for five minutes at 300 degrees while your turkey is resting. Rolls ingredients include Central Milling organic bread flour, whole wheat flour, and Diamond Crystal salt.
