SHERIDAN, Wyo. — A police officer was killed in the line of duty in Sheridan on Tuesday, Feb. 13, and the tributes are pouring in.

According to Oil City News, Sgt. Nevada Krinkee was shot while attempting to serve a trespass warning to a man in Sheridan. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was a six-year veteran of the Sheridan Police Department.

The Jackson Police Department shared its sympathy in a social media message.

“Our thoughts are directed at the Sheridan Police Department, the family of Sgt. Nevada Krinkee and the whole community of Wyoming at the news of this tragic event,” the agency wrote on Facebook. “We also hope it can come to a peaceful resolution.”

The Teton County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) also shared its condolences via Facebook.

“Please keep Sgt. Krinkee’s family, the entire Sheridan Police Department and all of Sheridan County Law Enforcement in your thoughts and prayers,” TCSO wrote.

Gov. Mark Gordon also issued a statement.

“I join all of Wyoming in mourning the loss of Sheridan Police Sergeant Nevada Krinkee, who was killed in the line of duty today,” Gordon said. “This senseless act is a solemn reminder of the selfless risks our law enforcement officers take each day when they put on the badge. Jennie and I extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Sergeant Krinkee, the Sheridan Police Department and the entire law enforcement community.”
