JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) is inviting input on a proposal by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort to enhance recreation opportunities and increase visitor and staff safety.

According to a press release from BTNF, 35 projects in the following categories could be implemented within the Resort’s existing special use permit boundary:

  • Lift replacement
  • Ski run, traverse and terrain park construction and modification
  • Construction and modification of visitor-service facilities
  • Development of new summer recreation opportunities
  • Fuels reduction in the wildland-urban interface
  • Avalanche control

The opportunity to comment meets both NEPA’s scoping requirement and the Forest Service’s notice and comment requirements that are part of the pre-decisional objection process, the BTNF press release states. This will be the only opportunity to comment.

There will be a public open house about the project at the Jackson Ranger District, 340 N Cache Street in Jackson on July 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

BTNF just celebrated its 115th birthday after Bridger and Teton National Forests were merged under one unit on July 1, 1973.
