JACKSON HOLE, WYO — Wyoming Highway Patrol has confirmed the identity of a local man killed on Togwotee Pass yesterday afternoon.

Highway Patrol responded to a call at approximately 2:00pm Sunday, May 5 for a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 26 at milemarker 12.5 near Hatchet Resort.

Avery Rogers, 34, of Jackson, was driving a gray Subaru westbound on Highway 26 at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a corner. Rogers overcorrected and eventually left the highway to the north side into some trees.

Rogers was wearing a seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Driver inattention and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.
